    Well anyway, they're lovely decanters.

    Lol thanks!

    Side Story:
I was at an antique store today and I put a UV reactive decanter aside in the 'holding area' so I wouldn't have to carry it. When I came back to the register for check-out: I saw the owner examining it intently and he told us that we would have to wait because the 'price was wrong' and he was researching the 'correct' price (on his smartphone).

I told him that I thought consignment stores were selling stuff for their vendors and not lining their own pockets by raising prices on items at checkout. He flushed super red and stared at me-enraged, and I stared back smiling. I thought we were going to have a problem, but, he begrudgingly rang up the sale and then flung the receipt at me and stormed off... I checked Google Reviews of the store and a small percentage of visitors have had similar issues with him. We won't be returning there for a long time.

In hindsight: the owner had been creeping on my gf and I while we were looking around, he must have seen the glass glow green under my UV light. Manganese is not Uranium: he was probably having trouble figuring out why it glowed green for us...and how much he could jack up the price for that...

Thanks! My gf was waiting behind me at the register and she was not paying attention.
She said that she didn't know what was taking so long, and when she turned around I was making an insane smile. She said the owner looked terrified.

Re: A thread to just drop into with some news or photos or whatever !!

My gf and I went to antique store today in Palmer Massachusetts called 'Antique Junction'. It was a smaller antique store and a bit on the pricey side. My gf found a rare piece of vintage glass for her collection-It was expensive. I brought the item to the front register to set it down-I started making small-talk with the owner while my gf continued to look around.

The owner mentioned that she had just got a box of new 'stock' for the store and asked if I wanted to look through it. The box was just a jumble of vintage glass with no wrapping or packaging to prevent damage. Carefully removing pieces from the box I noticed a rare piece at the bottom that I knew my gf was searching for: I took it out and I jokingly asked the owner of the store if I could get the price that it was marked for ($6 from the 1950's). I think I offended her-because she got really mad and glared daggers at me. I backpedaled super hard-and apologized and told her that I was only joking. I explained that I was well aware of the current value... I think she felt bad for the misunderstanding and offered us the piece I had found for $20 (the value is closer to $100). I accepted the offer, but, then I felt like the 'bad guy'. My gf told me not to care because we were getting overcharged on the first piece, but still...

Anyhow, if you are in the area of Palmer, Massachusetts, and you are looking for antiques: I recommend you stop by and see what you can find.

I love a good "treasure hunt" but not anywhere close to being in the area. Happy hunting.

I usually don't pay attention to 'primitive' style art, but this one caught my attention.

It is a snake sculpture from the Baga people located on the coast of West Africa.
The information card attached to the piece was pretty generic and unhelpful.
I did some quick research on this piece and it would likely have been swung around wildly by dancers during rituals relating to drought and fertility.

I like it. And I'm sure that's something you'd find useful- for drought if not fertility. And dancing to stay in shape, what could go wrong?
