Hi, I'm struggling to find a clear answer for this on google.
Is it okay to place foil under my UTH to help reflect more heat to the tank, or is this a ventilation issue?
I'm going to be upgrading my BP to a larger tank and being in Canada, I'm trying to conserve as much heat as possible.
I'll be using a heat lamp(dial controlled) as well as my UTH with a thermostat.
Already planning to buy 1/2 in thick foam insulation board to cover 3 sides + most of the top. Any other suggestions are absolutely welcome!

Installation instructions that I've always gone by say do not install on metal (& I've been using Flexwatt UTH literally for decades- safely with no issues). Most of these UTH products (Flexwatt & similar knock-offs) are not heavily insulated- it wouldn't take much (like the plastic being abraded & left unnoticed) to be a safety issue when used on metal. I'd say don't do it.
