50% het Hypo means the animal has a 50/50 chance of carrying the Hypo gene. More than likely, one of it's parents were 100% het for hypo which means it definitely carried the gene, but was not visual. With every egg the parent may or may not throw the gene, so there is a 50/50 chance. In actuality, the animal in question is, or is not, het for hypo, (hence the 50/50 chance) but you will not know until you prove it out. The best way to do that is to breed it to a visual Hypo animal and produce at least two clutches and see if you hit any hypo offspring.
