Oil heater question

Ok I have a plan in my head and want to make sure not going to be an issue. I'm planning on building a shelf to set my racks on leaving room underneath for a radiant heater to heat the area. As long as I have the proper spacing around the heater this shouldn't cause any issues correct?

I wouldn't put the heater directly underneath the rack as it would be too easy to overheat the snakes even if the overall room ambient is fairly low. Put the heater in the middle of the room instead, and then just turn it off and move it aside when you need to work in there.

That was my concern. The issue I have is the current area is basically a closet size kinda cutout. Was hoping to be able to add another rack side by side, may have to look at stacking options. Older cb70 and getting a ve6 if works out.

Maybe if you ran a small fan on the heater to circulate the air & ensure the heat isn't all going in one place? Needs real-time testing though to be safe for snakes.

I'm convinced! I'll just do a shelf instead so I can stack them and keep the heater off to the side. Thanks for confirming my concern with having heater below.

For that application look into a "cubicle heater" or "personal heater". They run 200-400W and are designed for under desks, in small office cubes, etc. just to bump up the ambient temp a few degrees in a small space.

Alternatively you could put two strips of heat tape in the racks, one up front set to about 82*F, the other in the back set to 90*F.
