Ultratherm Under the Tank Heater with AP Cages

Has anybody used an Ultratherm UTH with AP Cages? From their description, they don't seem like they get as hot as Flexwatt, so i'm just curious if they are warm enough to put out heat through the PVC cages that AP Cages sell.

Ultratherm can get very hot so make sure you use a thermostat with it. Technically, you should be using a thermostat with all heating element. If you search for Ultratherm in the forum search bar, you'll see previous threads as well.

With that said, as long as you're running an appropriate RHP, you don't really need the UTH unless you live in a very cold environment.

Re: Ultratherm Under the Tank Heater with AP Cages

I use Ultratherm UTHs on a few of my AP enclosures and they work great. The ultratherms don't get as hot as other UTHs, I think they top out ot 110F, so you'll still need a thermostat to regulate the temps, but you can create a good hot spot with them. I set my thermostats at 92-94 and it gives me a hot spot of 88-90 on the inside floor of the enclosure. I have UTHs for my boas and bulls but I have RHPs for my pythons. They both create good hot spots but the RHPs will boost the ambient temps as well.
