    Needing help

One of my friends friends had a ball python that she couldn't financially take care of anymore so I adopted her when I got her she had stuck shed and retained eye caps i got all that off by soaking her the lady also said she was feeding her a large rat every 14 days I think the snake looks over weight a bit and I think a medium rat every 10 days would be perfect any input would be greatly appreciated

    Re: Needing help

My largest females get a medium rat every two weeks and even then they will refuse periodically, so I think that sounds fine.

Is there a way for me to attach a picture for you to see the size of her so that I know that medium rats are enough?

    Weigh her.

    Then look here:

Now, my two cents. Feeding a small rat every seven days is about the same as a medium rat every two weeks. Me, I feed ASF. They won't outgrow my BP.

I disagree. They have an easier time digesting smaller meals. Larger meals also lead to more frequent refusals.

My adult BPs eat when they "tell me" they're hungry by displaying feeding behavior on consecutive nights.
On the third night I offer. Not a single refusal since I adopted this technique.

They get a small rat every 9-14 days typically and maintain great body structure.

My point is feed smaller. An read the posted feeding chart. My BPs get ASF my BC an BIs get rats an rabbits. Waiting till the snake says "FEED ME NOW!!!" works great. I have a 13yo Red Tail that if she isn't tapping the glass she won't eat. Weigh the snake an weigh the rodent. Keep track of what an when food is offered an taken. Snakes go off feed, no big deal (if husbandry is correct). Wait a week an try again. Food refusal is why I went from one snake to twenty, didn't want to waist a $2 rat.
