Wild Snake ID Help - Central Texas

My friend is under the mistaken impression that because I have snakes, I must know how to identify the wild ones. She caught these two in her yard (on separate days).






At first I thought they looked like western hognose, but she said no upturned snouts.


Help me impress her by correctly identifying these if possible!

That first one looks like a Texas rat snake and a pretty one at that. And that second one looks like an eastern hognose rather than a western because of the pattern.

Rat snake and eastern hognose my husband found an eastern hognose at his shop yesterday too!
