    Snake "watches" tv

So when I first got my blood python my gf was holding him, and i walked away. She then said he was jerking and watching tv. I did not believe her. Later that day i was holding him while watching tv, and i felt him jump in my hands. I looked. At him and the jumps coincided with massive color changes on the tv. I was still doubting what i was seeing.

Now i have had him for a few months and i have 3 videos of him "watching" tv. He doesn't jump anymore, but it's obvious that he is watching something in the videos, and the only thing in front of him is the tv.

Have any of you experienced this? I put watching in quotes cause I'm still not sure if it's a visual thing or a heat thing, but the jerking early on would tend to suggest its visual.

I haven't noticed that but I understand snakes can see color, so sure, why not? -I don't think they're following the plot or identifying objects though...

I know that I once walked past a large mirror holding a skittish snake & he promptly freaked out, obviously startled from the flash of our images so close by.
(oops, sorry! -actually, he bit me, lol)

I've noticed my snake look up at the TV once in a while but not actually watch it. There was this one time my husband was gaming and he looked at the screen for a minute straight but that's pretty much it.

I think they're picking up heat from the TV too?

I believe it. My BP will usually investigate any screen within reach, whether it be a laptop, desktop monitor or a cellphone. He has even sent off a couple texts by tapping the phone screen with his tongue.

My ball python is very interested in screens as well. He always slithers up to investigate my phone if I'm using it while I have him out. He loves to look at it, smell it with his tongue, and climb on it. Similar to Sallos' BP he has typed some letters out with my phone while climbing across it.

I also once showed my BP a video of a mouse to see if he would respond, he ended up hiding his head so I don't think he really understood what he was seeing, maybe the lights and movement disturbed him though.

Overall I'm not sure how much they use sight for identification. Mine certainly shows interest in electronic devices and screens though so I'm sure they might react to the colours, light, or heat they see from a screen.
