    Average weight gain per month

    So I’ve just weighed Syd and he’s 530g. He’s about 1year 5months old & he’s been with us since Feb' 2018.
Is the weight he’s at healthy for his age?
He hasn’t been weighed since mid December and I can’t remember what his weight was then.

    Average weight gain per month

Could you post a picture? Genetics, feeding schedule, rat/ mouse size, etc. All factor into how fast he grows. There’s not really an average.

More information for sure is needed. Also, I use a app called Snake Keeper. It's for iOS and Android. Very helpful app!

Don’t know what you mean by genetics.
He’s fed every 7 days. ‘Small weaned rat’ which are 26g - 50g.

26-50 grams is way too small for a snake over 500 grams. Check out this chart

There are both genetic and environmental factors that contribute to weight gain. How large the parents grew can contribute to how large he will grow, but that isn’t the only factor. How large of prey items and how often he eats are the environmental factors. The best way to tell if a snake is underweight is by looking at the curvature of the snake to the spine.

So it’d be a small rat instead of the small weaned one.
I only upped the food size last month so I wouldn’t of thought to be doing it again so quick.

Correct. My pastel coral Glow eats a live small rat every week. He's approaching 600 grams.

I’m getting more food today/tomorrow (don’t know where you’re at). I’ll get some of both. Looking at him would give you the impression that he can’t down a small rat. But obviously it’s worth giving it a go.
