Strange spots on skin
I noticed that my albino ball python is going into shed and he has 3-4 small reddish spots on his back that just appeared in the last week. He temps stay at 90 on the hot side and 76 on the low and his humidity stays between 50-70%. He has a very small hide that he insists on using but this doesn’t look like an injury to me. Sorry for the link but I haven’t figured out how to post pics yet...

could be blood spots from a messy feed or damaged scales. either way, it should get better when he sheds.

Do you feed live? Looks like a rodent bite to me. Keep an eye on it, could get infected.

I got him out and tried to wash whatever that is off and it’s definitely damaged scales. He looked completely fine this time last week so I don’t know what he’s done. He eats frozen/thawed and hasn’t had a bloody rat lately. He has a “hut” style hide made of concrete so maybe he scratched himself. I gave him 2 new medium Reptile Basic hides last night and he seems to accept them unlike the other 4 styles I’ve tried.
I’ve been keeping his tank misted more often and I was hoping it wasn’t some kind of weird fungus or bacteria.

it's very minor damage. nothing deep or nothing that will lead to permanent scarring/missing or deformed scales in. just keep the humidity up and if might even be fixed with this upcoming shed.

I agree that it's minor, etc.- as long as it's not a bite (those are way more likely to get infected).

Thanks guys. I was worried I might be slacking on my enclosure cleaning or over misted him and gave him a fungal infection you might recognize. I did get on the phone today and found a good exotic pet vet so my anxiety did some good for a change lol

it's good to ID a vet that will meet your needs before a real issue or emergency comes up, so it was wasn't all for naught.
