Re: Mice to rats
My young guy is the same size as yours (around 240g) and I just switched him over to rat pups. He was on adult mice before.

They only had live rat pups. So I didn't get any. I'm going to order some and have them delivered. Have to check out some places.

If you're going to order online, think ahead about 6 months. Get some pups and some weaners for your little guy, and some smalls for your big guy.

If it was eating adult mice, and you are starting the switch to rats, I find it to be easier to do so when given a smaller prey item. So I would try a large rat fuzzy and see how that goes. Once it starts eating consistently, then go for a small rat pup or slowly build up to a size appropriate for its weight. No need to rush things.

If you have access to mouse bedding, try rolling the rat around in the stinky mouse mouse bedding right before feeding. Did that with mine, and it worked like a charm.

Re: Mice to rats

This is my guy he’s 660 grams and on weened rats, he was really underweight when I got him as pet shop had him on small mice which is one of reasons I got him I wanted a bp but the store wasn’t meeting his needs so I took him. He was 470 grams when I got him I switched him immediately to weened rats.
