Hey guys!
So I've kept snakes (and bred them) for quite some time now. Cornsnakes, Milk snakes and King snakes mostly. About a week ago I just purchased my first Ball Python! He's a Banana Het pied BP and about 6 weeks old (Hatched September 25th. Pairing was Banana Spider Het pied x Pied). In a few years (or whenever he is ready) I plan to breed him. I've mostly bred for fun and take my time finding homes for my snakes to make sure they are well taken care of. If I can't sell them I just simply keep them. I never breed more than I have space to hold.
My one question is, what type of female morph would be a good pairing with my Banana? I know it's very personal preference but I would like to know your guys opinions as you probably have way more experience with Ball Pythons than me. Colubrids are what I've always dealt with. I would like to get a young female and raise her up for a few years instead of buying one that is already breeding ready. Since this is a hobby to me it's more fun to watch the snakes grow and get them used to me. I'm in no real rush.
The past year I have been doing tons of research but there are so many morphs and information on them I simply don't know enough. That's why I came here. I know the simple answer would be to pair him with a pied but other than that what would be your other recommendations? Again I want to stress that I don't plan to breed these snakes for at least a few years and the money they sell for doesn't really matter to me. I just like to do this for fun and to care for the animals.
I'm a very experienced breeder and always put the animals health and future clutches health first above anything. I just like to plan ahead and raise my snakes from hatchlings. Thank you for any help you guys can give me.
