Temperature Question!

Hey Everyone!

So, In my ball pythons terrarium, she has a hot spot of 90-91 degrees, and her cool side.

For some reason every morning when I do her daily check she somehow finds an 86 degree spot in her terrarium and is never on her hot spot. Should I have her hot spot be 86 degrees then??

I'm checking hotspot with temp. gun. And I have the Herpstat thermostat.

can’t hurt to drop it a degree or two and see but agree w Craig. She may also be using it when you aren’t watching. What do you use for the hot spot mat or tape or what ? Make sure you are checking the general radius and below the substrate.

I’ve had times where areas seem perfect then there are these peaks of 93-94 which is way too hot. Took me a few weeks to really dial in.

I personally try not to go higher then 88, you can give that a try. And for yearlings I usually keep it around 86 degrees. You will find a lot of keepers and breeders heat the room vs. the encloses and don’t keep the temps that high and prefer A bit lower then the recommended 90-92. Hope that helps.
