so i got a new enclosure for alfy that is the same length and width but just twice as tall so he could have some climbing room. he has, like before, a warm and a cool hide, as well as some branches and fake plants. he use to love his cool hide and spend most of his time there. but now, in the new enclosure, he doesn't use a hide, spends all his daytime hours laying in the coolest corner behind a fake plant that he's always had. (temps are exactley the same. i'm just wondering if he likes his new cage or not. is he upset? is this a trivial question and of no concern? i just always worry when my animals' behavior changes a bit.

    no longer using hides

How long has he been in this new enclosure? He might be still adjusting to it.
I wouldn't worry too much. As long as temperatures are fine, and you provide him with all the right stuff, it should be all good.

he's been in about a week. he always acts like it's too hot. everytime i look in there i think i'm going to check the the temp and it's going to be too hot because he's plastered to the coldest corner. but it's at 80. oh well, i guess he's fine.

Hehe ya my girls like to be cool a lot of the time too, she goes in the cool side behind a little rock wall that i have. Sometimes she almost feel like when i pick her up she is almost too cold, but i guess if she was cold she would just go to the hot side and soak up some heat.

What I was going to ask too - getting to be that time of year. Maybe he is just you know hangin out on the streetcorner hoping some fine lady BP will slink on by and give him a smile. Our very reclusive Benny has been out and about lately - a definite change of behavior on his part as well!
