    Enclosure upgrades/Herpstat Choices

    Hello,
    I have 7 snakes:
    Red Tail Boa
    Rosy Boa x2
    Corn Snake
    Ball Python
    Brazilian Rainbow Boa
    Kenyan Sand Boa

These are all in glass tanks with the exception of the Red Tail boa who is in an Animal Plastics 8’x2’x2’.

My preference is to get each of the snakes a Herpstat with RHP’s from ProProducts. The snakes are all in the basement. I had a weather station I received as a gift last year that I ended up using in the basement( auto uploads data to an Excel spreadsheet when my PC is on) to monitor temps since November and so far the coldest it has gotten in the basement is 55 degrees. This was not for more than 2 to 3 hours. Temps in the 58-60 range have been fairly common so far. Low to mid 60’s is just as common this winter. Obviously the temps are not desirable, particularly for the BP, BRB and Redtail, but until I can do drywall and make some other changes, it is what is. The basement is 600-700 square feet so heating it isn’t easy.

To the point, I want to get the following enclosures:
T1’s for all the snakes except the BP and BRB
    BRB – T10
    BP – will be 36x24x15.
The only thing I am stuck on is the Herpstats. I was initially going to buy 1 for each enclosure. Then I thought maybe it would be better, or maybe cleaner looking to have maybe 2 herpstat 4’s.
Basically looking for opinions on the Herpstats and the most sensible approach. I already have everyone on UTH’s with thermostats etc. The more thought I give this, given the winter temps, and the consideration that this has been a mild winter, mostly in the 50’s and 60’s with bumps into the 70’s for a week here and there, I should probably keep the UTH’s in place as well. Maybe put them in service during the winter and off during the summer when the basement is in the low 70s? Probably some experimentation required.
I am not terribly worried about the rosy’s or corn as far as temps go as their natural ranges get this cold, but for the BRB, BP and Red Tail this is far from ideal. Despite the temps etc, they are all eating regularly and healthy. I am just not happy with the conditions and know I can do better for them…..so here we are.

Any constructive criticism is welcome and thank you in advance for the advice!

I have dual heating in my cages and it's nice to be able to use the flexwatt or RHP to heat as needed. I've got nine snakes and 2 herpstat 4's plus one redline #1. Note, RHP will heat up the cage above quite a bit also, can be good or a problem. Personally I would add a space heater to the room and try to get ambient temps up to at least 72 ish for everyone's safety, in case any heat source goes out, to keep temps up without running all heat sources nonstop and so you can take them out of cages without risking their health.
