    AP t8 cage?

    Hello,

I am planning on getting T8 cage when he fully grows but I heard some people saying the heat tape doesn't work very well. What kind of heat tape do they use that makes it $35 when ordering. Have you guys used any other heat tape for T8 cages? seems like they just tape it on to the back, any opinions?
Also, I saw that they can install led for you? which is not in the option? What is difference to the look between LED and fluorescent fixture? Anyone have pictures?
I am also going to install RHP for ambient temp which I plan to control with herpstat 2 but saw some people use it without thermostat? I am sure this is wrong but wanted to ask.

I like t10 has more height and easier cleaning. And no idea on the heat tape, sorry.

    This might help.

We had this thread going comparing Boaphile to AP.

Even if you are set on AP, it should have some good info.

What heating elements you need depends on room temp etc.

I always say get heating elements for the worst case scenario. Worst case, they barely run. Best case, you keep a healthy animal in a less than ideal room temp situation.

Do not skimp on thermostat either.

Sorry they use flex watt 11x23" and rhp is 80w I believe. Any and all heat sources must be regulated. You can do a herpstat ez or spider robotics thermostats. Three inches for cleaning I hear makes a difference lol. Same price add the 3 inches. You call to order the led lights. Talk to Ali.

The BP could care less about the height.

    You might when cleaning.

    I have 4 6x2x1’ boaphile tanks and one 6x2x 18 inches high.

Easier to clean the higher one, but I have height limitations and they are stacked.

Not terrible cleaning the foot tall ones though.

but if I am using heat tape and rhp, I need herpstat 2 right? to control two different heat source?

I mean if my room temp is not the ideal temp for ball python, like 70 during winter, I think I would need extra heat elements.
I wouldn't even consider pvc cage if my room temp stays perfect without my space heater which can get costly during winter haha.

As long as it has control for two it won't matter. Lots of people use the ez as well. It's up to preference.

You go up in wattage on your rhp for that.
