Question Do Candles Harm a Snake That Lives in the Same Room?

I'm getting a normal BP soon, but I have one of those scented wax melters and a few normal candles in the same room. Would that effect or make the BP sick?

No... wait are you putting it inside the enclosure or venting it into it?

I'm not sure, but you should probably put those out before you get your snake.

Re: Do Candles Harm a Snake That Lives in the Same Room?

Sometimes, on those rare occasions when I have company over, I've used scented candles in the same room with the snakes and, thus far, haven't had a problem. I wouldn't do it all the time, however, never when I'm going to be feeding them, and I probably wouldn't do it during the summer months where the smoke residue has a better chance of getting inside the enclosures.

Any smoke has a good chance of instinctively stressing a snake, however. To an animal with very limited mobility, nearby smoke smelled by a Royal Python in the wild usually means that the day is probably not going to end well.

No, they're in the same room as the cage.

I have candles in my snake room. I just keep them far enough away from the enclosures that there's no way the smoke billows into them.

I light scented candles and also joss sticks in the same room my snakes are in, and have been doing so since I got Wanda in September '16. They are about 3 m away from where I put them, and my room is well ventilated, but I've never had a problem.
