Not Sure If This Is the Right Place to Put This...

Not sure if I put this here or another thread, but a white back I had posted that I was going to be a Ball python owner soon. Specifically, I was going to be the owner of a male Killer Spinner Ball python. I've been anxiously awaiting him since I paid him off the day before Christmas. However, I found out on January 7th that my mother had changed her mind about me owning this snake because of her boyfriend who hates animals. I eventually managed to have a co-ownership with my friend, Chris, who agreed to keep him in his house since I wasn't allowed to. My snake was supposed to be shipped out yesterday, but of no fault of the breeder, but FedEx, he wasn't. This snake was held overnight in the FedEx hub despite him supposed to he shipped overnight, which I paid a lot of money for, but I don't even really care about that. The issue is that these snakes had to go into Memphis, which tonight it'll be a frigid 16 degrees, too cold for a snake to be shipped out in. The breeder now has to drive all the way to Memphis to pick them up in hopes of receiving them before they're put on the plane, but he's not sure if he'll make it. I'm worried about the health of my snake, and I'm dreading the thought of him passing away, cold and alone in a box on the way to the hub center. I feel like everything has been working against me recently. Just a lot of things have been going downhill and this is just the cherry on top, but I'm worried about the snake. Forget the money I spent, the money does not nearly equate to the life of any living thing. I hope the breeder reaches him.and the other 7 snakes he shipped out before they take off, and if not, I hope they survive.

Sorry, I probably wrote this out very sloppily, I'm just upset and I wasn't sure where to put this.

Hopefully the heat packs last long enough, unfortunately this happens sometimes. A lot of old timers used to prefer shipping in the cooler months. Back in the day I got a lot of snakes from Peter Kahl that were shipped in January and I live in Chi-town. Hopefully everything will be alright.

The best you can do is be hopeful and stay in contact with FedEx and the breeder. I am sorry this is happening to you, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Re: Not Sure If This Is the Right Place to Put This...

I hope everything is ok for the snakes sake. The packs are usually 48hrs.
On another note. I dont know what the Breeders purchase agreement is as far as canceling. Some are non refundable 20% etc.. but I feel a Co-ownership is not a good idea at all at a young age. I understand having a friend to do this with sounds great, however there can always be disagreements down the road. It will stink up his room and he wont be able to wait for you to come over to help clean up..how about his parents or a problem he may have in the future that prevents him from being able to care for it any longer? Money and food cost are easy.. Its the work and the fact this snake will be around for 20-30 years with the proper care. Sounds like a Recipe for a problem. Seems to me things might not be going right for a reason....like you said its a living thing and if you cant dedicate yourself to it 100% then you shoulnt take it on IMO.
