    UTH... Is it enough?

    Hi folks,

Noob back for more opinions and advice. I have a thermastat setup under my glass tank with a 20 gallon UTH. I'm wondering if that is enough heat to keep the warm side of the tank between 88-93 degrees? Or if I should keep using the CHE as well. I have the Zilla thermastat with two plug ins so, Im just wondering, from your personal experience, how well the UTH keeps your warm side heated.

The UTH is there solely to provide belly heat/a hot spot. Your UTH isn't there for ambient temps. So, unless the ambient temps in the room the enclosure is in remain in the low 80s you will need an additional heat source.

For my vivs set-ups, UTH are not enough for ambient heat, to compensate all tanks have a plexiglass lid that holds heat, with a smalll opening for an a heating element to be passed through by on a thermostat, timer and dimmer.

I've had to use a CHE to heat the rest of my 20g long. I've also foiled and taped the screen lid, cutting a hole for the lamp.

I too have a 20L and have the lid covered with foiled cardboard with a hole cut for my Che which is on a dimmer. My ambient stays at 81.
