    my friend caught a wild snkae and we have no clue what type of snake it is or what it eats

    i got pics anyone know what it is?

    I want to guess and say that's a rat or a bull snake, but I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to wild snakes that aren't native to IL.

    Btw most states have laws against keeping native species of herps, so your friend should check into that.

    It's a brown snake - Storeria dekayi. Let me guess - not very big at all, and flattens out its head when its frightened (you may not have witnessed this behavior yet).

    Brown snakes & their subspecies are extremely common throughout the US. Their main diet consists of earthworms & slugs. When I lived in TX I kept one & fed it red wigglers & it did fine. Cute little snakes.

    i cant tell you about the head flattening thing but it is really skinny yet just over a foot long

    BTW are they know to eat other snakes? cause my friend caught 2 and now theres only one and the missing one was really small

    ok once we got this eating thing down my friend was wondering what sort of habitat should he set up for it

    please respond quick cause its lived a couple days in a small tank but we werent sure what the heating or humditiy should be at

    0.1 normal; 1.1 albino. 1.0 pied; 0.1 het pied; 1.0 banana.
