    It is TOO HOT RUNNING UNREGULATED!!!!

    A thermometer measures temperature and yours should have a probe to place on the hot spot.
    A thermostat is a device that a heat source plugs into to regulate the heating device.

    Yup, should've specified that I meant outside the tank, observant as always Zin. It's generally a bad idea to use tank inside the enclosure.

    I think you meant tape not tank, and yes it's a bad idea to use anything sticky in the enclosure.
