    soon to be BP owner!

so hopefully within the next month or two ill be getting my first snake (depending on my parents) and i already have a bearded dragon and a tortoise, i just built my tortoise a new tank today so i have a free 40 breeder that can be cleaned out. im just trying to have a second opinion on my list of stuff i should get, this is what i have so far: UTH, Thermostat for UTH (which side question, but where would i put the probe for this, between the glass and UTH or inside the tank under the substrate?), screen clamps since my original sliding lid broke, debating on a UVB given that i want some light and i have heard that sometimes they can be more active with a UVB (if not using a UVB can i use something like a daylight LED bulb for lighting?), i already have a few CHEs in case i need them, i have coco coir, and last things that i need on the list are medium pangea box hides, and a large water dish! oh, also i need some reptisafe.

im sorry this is all out of order and kind of rambly but its late and i was typing stuff as i was thinking of it!

i just read @Starscream ‘s post about their tub set up with a CHE and how they dont really recommend using a UTH as it wont help very much, which if thats true im okay with that simply because thats less money to spend. and about the UVB, to clarify, no matter what in the end im getting one, its just whether or not i can use the daylight LED bulb for now to save some money aswell and wait for the T5HO 36” to go down in price again.

Let me insight you, i currently have 4bps in 40gals, well two of them are in Exo Tera long talls (more then 40), the other two are in officially 40gals anyways, I only use a 30-40gal uth with a jumpstart on each and that alone is enough....BUT... I’m in Kissimmee/Orlando (Central Florida) i also have 8feet of Bearded Dragon enclosures that helps with the ambient room temps. I have my BPs and my Boa all dialed in. Never an issue with temps

pardon the mess i just got the second (bottom tank) done today, but the one on top is a bearded dragons which doesnt help my ambient temperature much due to being enclosed, same with the bottom which is going to be a tortoise tank. plus i have a ceiling fan on almost 24/7 and my room is typically 70-74°f (for now that is, who knows during summer) but thats going to be the setup, the 40gal isnt set up by any means. i just transferred the tort out of there a couple hours ago. the light thats on it now is the Daylight LED i was talking about using instead of a UVB

UVB is so pointless for ball pythons. Just get either an LED light or keep the windows open. They will get all their vitamin D3 they need from the rodents they eat and won't really utilize the benefits of a UVB bulb. If you do use lighting it is crucial to get it on a timer so they have a day night cycle. Leaving it on all the time will mess with their rhythms.

Btw, UVB is useless for BPs as I know, LEDs for show yea, just time it with sundown 12/12 that’s how I manage my dragons along with my Pythons windows open for sunlight so they have their natural rotation

as i stated in the post above in the picture is the bulb id be using. its a 5000kelvin daylight LED bulb, thats what the light would look like. also, i just took that picture my room gets like no sunlight past 10-11am so i like having lights so i can actually see my reptiles (‘: but im already on a day/night schedule with my other two reptiles. just trying to find a good timer that can accommodate 3-4 plugs
