In my experience, I just offer immediately after the first is swallowed and they always take it. They are still in feed mode and I've never had a refusal.
If you have the finances and freezer space available then buying online is much, MUCH cheaper in the long run. The size comes fairly varied within a package. I sort them in ziplock bags of 3-5 depending on size and weight and then put those smaller bags into a ziplock gallon freezer bag. Wrap that in some walmart/grocery bags and they last months. Freezing a few in smaller bags keeps most airtight while opening only a few at a time.

Also, I don't think he's overly thin either, but do personally think a few mice might be a good idea. I didn't switch Tyson to rats til he hit 400 grams (I overstocked the freezer with mice, whoops) and he switched immediately. I think some just switch more willingly than others.

He's always eaten inside his hide or after I'm gone so I don't really have an idea when the prey is swallowed. I guess I can sit the 2nd thawed mouse in his cage (not sure if he'll bother coming out of his hide).
I do plan on ordering online. I have a fridge/freezer dedicated to my f/t which is currently filled w/ enough rat pups to last me a couple months

I can see the spine. Not overly thin..yet. I would switch back to mice. You will just have to feed him more in the long run. No biggie. Get that baby eating. He is to young not to eat.

Doesn't look terribly thin to me. There is a little ridging of the spine but honestly that doesn't look anything of concern yet.
I would not worry so much about switching to rats so quickly if he is rejecting them. If you feel the weight is changing too much I would just switch back to what you were feeding and try again after getting him back to what you feel is ideal weight. Keeping him a good weight and eating well while this young is far more important than getting him on rats.
For now however he still looks really healthy and his skin looks great so I am assuming he isn't dehydrated at all which is good.

Thanks to everyone for their responses! I decided it was more important to get him back to eating sooner then later so I gave presented a large mouse (23 grams) to him tonight and he tagged it w/i 2 seconds! The mouse got stuck sideways at the entrance of his hide but he managed to pull it in. Hopefully he figures out how to situate it inside. Boy am I happy
Happy Holiday Everyone!

Re: Thoughts on Size
Im not sure if this will help or not... when i switched i was told to mix the mice and rats when i broke them down into smaller packages to make them smell the same. I started with 3 mice and 1 rat in the first bag, then 2 and 2, then 3 rats and 1 mouse. He never refused, not sure if i was lucky or it actually made a difference.
