Bonding with Godzilla.
I acquired this big reduced pattern female at 4 years old, and it was clear her previous keepers didn't handle her much, as she is quite shy. I am slowly increasing handling frequency, and tonight I put her on my lap, with a pillow over her as a "hide". she seemed content under the pillow as cover, and my lap as warmth. Without the pillow as cover, she normally squirms and tries to get away and hide immediately. So I will use this method of handling with a cover to help her feel secure.
She is such a beautiful pet, I want to keep her as more than just a rack breeder, even if she was raised that way. She has never taken a strike at me, but she hisses sometimes when I disturb her.
I took the pillow off for a second to snap a quick pic of her coiled up peacefully in my lap.

She is beautiful !!
And she will get more comfortable with handling. Just be patient and take your time. Those snakes can live a VERY VERY long time. If one is just patient with them, they do learn to trust. It takes the older ones a bit longer, esp. if they lived most of their lives in different circumstances. But, she will learn

Re: Bonding with Godzilla.
I’ve done something similar with baby BPs - tuck them into my shirt. They sit on a nice warm shelf, and they’re hidden in my shirt. My husband has done it too, but he has to lean back more.

Re: Bonding with Godzilla.

My prized, nearly spotless, Royal lady, GODZILLA. She has a pink belly and will soon go into blue.
A nice 15 minute handling session that went well tonight. Slowly, but surely, she is taming down. She got very calm with me and at one point, she just wrapped onto my warm neck, with her head under a blanket while we sat on the couch, and she rested still for a few minutes.

Re: Bonding with Godzilla.

She will shed any hour now.
She’s resting in my lap under a blanket comfortably while I watch Batman Begins on TV. As long as she covered by the blanket and warm on my lap, she is completely content.
Hasn’t barely moved in 20 minutes.

Good on you for letting her stretch her not-legs once in a while. I definitely find its good for cutting down on enclosure-pacing behaviors to get mine out every now and then.

My piebald Flame is like that. She’s the most extroverted, outgoing ball python and she will periscope and explore whenever she can.
