    Re: Just got 2 pythons

I'd suggest cramming some branches and cheap fake foliage in there if it's for Royals /Ball pythons tbh

    Can I use 1 thermostat for the 2 heaters?.[QUOTE]

As far as I know this is one of the best thermostats. This one specifically controls two heat sources. The jump-starts only control one heat source but you could buy two thermostats.

Suggest going to the forum for care and start doing some reading. Immediately. Sounds like you needed to do some research bfore bringing home any ball pythons. They are not lizards, quit trying to care for them as such.

Yea, that one is way too expensive for me, I'd rather just buy 2 of the other one.

i read about a thread that spoke of thermostats (for pythons, not lizards!) before buying the pythons (not in this forum) that everyone was saying there was no need to worry about buying a thermostat if the temps are fine. So after reading that I figured I wouldn't buy it but now all of you insist on me getting one. So, I'm sort of confused. I'll buy the thing anyway, I just don't understand why there's so many opposing views if it really is (apparently) necessary. I can find that link of the thread f you guys want to see it.

I also noticed most people usually don't put much more than 1 hide in a snake's tub. I'd put plants in them but I don't have any at the moment, just a lot of hides. Besides, the female's tank is as crammed as I could possibly make it, just minus any plants.

At night I cover the female's tank with a towel (by the walls, it doesn't cover the lid. I use heavy books and place them on top) so she doesn't see anything outside if that helps with making her feel safe. I don't with the male since he's already in the closet with the doors closed, he's not gonna see anything pass by in there.

After getting rid of my collection and equipment, I set my red tail up with a dimmer switch. Did the same with the 2 newly acquired bp's.

That's a pretty good idea, i never thought about that. I have one but I just don't know if I should use it, my heat pad is constantly at 91.5-92. I just have it on a timer that turns it off and on every 30
    minutes at the moment

I never ran a thermostat or rheostat on the 40B I had. The uth was the proper size for the tank. I just cut a piece of coroplas to fit over half the bottom of tank before adding bedding.

I have some egg crate, would that work the same way? I ordered some soil that was mixed with coco fiber and moss for them. I was thinking about doing the same thing you did but with egg crate instead.

by the way, the BEL tends to get the paper towel inside the water and it soaks the entire paper towel and dries his water out, what should I do? He's done this twice now.

I would go and get a thermostats or rheostat just to be safe, as for tubs they are usually dark or opaque so they can't see much if anything so people might do one.

Maybe try newspaper, brown paper or meat paper.
