That is your problem in my opinion. You should not be running two completely different heat sources off of one thermostat unless it SPECIFICALLY designated to do so. Your RHP isn't getting enough juice to heat up your enclosure properly as a result. Furthermore, your Herpstat is a proportional unit which controls and regulates the current rather than an off/on unit that you're probably running now....much better product.
I tend to trust the guy who sells the RHP to zoos and breeders all over the country personally over someone else, but that's just me.

Fair enough. Unfortunately, but fortunately, that makes me feel better in a way because I have already ordered the herpstat. I will update when I get the herpstat and let it regulate a bit in the proper way. Thank you all for your help I really appreciate it.

No I absolutely agree. I am still pretty new and just trying to find the best way to best take care of my boy. I started out with a tiny glass cage and the second I joined up on here I quickly learned a whole lot pretty fast and made lots of adjustments to best take care of him. Some things I'm still learning and luckily I have this site and cool people helping along the way. Fortunately, Snape has always eaten thus far on schedule and seems to be doing okay even through my blunders. I'm always open to learning new and better ways to be a better snake mom

Absolutely, you learn as you go as we all did.
