Re: Food For My Snake?
Why am I posting this I have a chart I just don't know what he weighs though
Ball Pythons: 0.0.1 Axel/ Leopard Geckos: 1.0 Demyx/ Dogs: 0.1 Butterfly, 0.1 Prissy, 0.1 Shelby 10. Vortex/ Cats: 0.1 Izzie, 0.1 Isabella/ Chicken: 1.0 Big Red

Well there's only two things on the menu, rats and mice! The size should be about 5% to 10% of the weight of the snake (don't really need the chart), or a rodent about as big around as the biggest part of the snake unless you have a really big snake, then I shoot for about 150-180 grams max for a ball python. You can feed frozen thawed, just make sure it's totally thawed out and warmed to about 100F before feeding, or you can do fresh killed or live (just don't leave a live rodent in with the snake for more than about 20 minutes).

Re: Food For My Snake?
Do you mean size or type of food? As for size there was a very good chart posted on one of your other threads that is good for size. Another way sense I seem to remember you saying you don't have a scale is to get a piece of string and gently wrap it around the biggest part of his body then use that as a reference on what size prey to get.
For what type of he was on mice before I would personally feed him mice for the first few feeding them switch over to rats after he gets comfortable. Also if I were you I would feed him every 5 days instead of 7 until he gets a little weight on him, but that's all up to you.
Also don't be sorry! It's good that you are trying to do your best and learn. We are happy to help

Okay, so, do you have a suggestive size though?
Either the guy didn't feed him or Axel didn't eat thursday.
So, should I feed him the Pinkies now or get more food before I feed him?

O yeah, I forgot about the F/T vs live oprion. I would do F/T if I were you sense you would probably need around an adult mouse for him and a live one could possibly hurt him. If you do go live I would change my vote to rat fuzzies or so sense they wouldn't really be able to hurt him.
Also dont be scared when you first give him his food, I know I was lol. I thought it was far to big and I had messed up! Lol, in the end it turns out it was actually to small! They can stretch out their little mouths WIDE

How many pinkies do you have? It's really hard to say the exact size to give him without seeing him or knowing his weight. Sense you have the pinkies I would say give them to him now if he'll take them and then get larger prey and feed him that it five days. Pinkies are mostly water and don't have a lot of nutrients so I would switch him to something else when you can but sense you already bought them you might as well use them lol. Try and feed him multiple if he'll take them

I would just forget about the pinkies. They are not a suitable meal for a BP. They are almost entirely water and hold very little nutritional value.
I suggest getting a small mouse to start since your local store prob won't carry rat fuzzies. Shoot for something in the 12-15 gram range. Since you don't have a scale you'll need to ballpark it, but the packaging will tell you the approximate weight of the mouse. You could even ask the store if they can weigh it. Not sure if they will, depending where you go and how that particular store is, but can't hurt to try.

Re: Food For My Snake?
If you're getting those packs from petsmart it says the weight on the box and they aren't sealed so you can just pop them open and take a look at the mice if you want

Yup, and if it's a multi-pack you can do the math and get the approximate weight per piece. Feed the smallest first and work your way up. It's been a long time since I bought from there, so I have no clue how many to a pack, but the weight will be written on the packaging.
