    Admiral Vielar Crom

This guy's my first baby. I picked him up from a show back in July and caught the bug! I was trying to walk away from the show empty handed, but I fell in love with the champagne morph and the breeder had a great price on him so I couldn't pass him up. So without further ado, meet Admiral Vielar Crom!

Beautiful bp is that a stick on thermometer? If so I recommend not using it, sticky things like that and tape should never be in their enclosure as they are dangerous to them.

It has Velcro between the thermometer and the adhesive. Before I put the snake anywhere close to it, I made sure the Velcro would come apart before the adhesive failed.

Gorgeous baby !!! Walk out of a snake expo empty handed ?? HAHA. There is a reason I don't go there. You'd have to tie my hands behind my back and gag me before that would work...LOL

    Great pickup!

btw. Not to nag at you, but the humidity can loosen up that adhesive over time and make it fail. Still sticky enough to cause your BP problems, though...just a thought

I'll definitely keep an eye on that! What are the best alternatives? Keeping a student loan budget in mind

I think there are several Acurite or similar ones that can be had at a VERY reasonable price. Some even have a probe for a secondary reading. Mine cost $8.55 on Amazon. I don't think we are supposed to link to products for sale, but if you search for Acurite thermometers, a ton will pop up and you can read the reviews on them

Honestly, the picture with the snake on top of your meter is making me nervous. The humidity in the enclosure and the weight of the snake can definitely make it pop off, and not necessarily at the "velcro" point. That is a big piece of adhesive that your BP could get stuck too. You can get it off with mineral oil, etc, but it often causes damage to the snake, not to mention the stress. Just test it real well and often until you can find something better.

I will! Thank you for the info!

Also, thank you for being a decent person about getting that info to me! My biggest complaint about the BP community so far is that everyone seems to immediately grabs torches and pitchforks and wants to crucify someone for asking questions or for not knowing something.

I have asked about feeding through multiple sources, and the response I got each time was effectively "read a care sheet". Which one? I've read all of them that I can find and I've got a book about BP care haha! All that to say: the way suggestions were passed along here is a breath of fresh air in a community that has been so negative prior to now.

I love THIS HERE online forum/community. While we have our disagreements at times, most everyone is incredibly kind and helpful. I have tried to join some Facebook pages, but a couple of them are downright brutal and very off putting! But enough about that. You will find great help here. Sometimes it takes a little bit to get the answers, depending on who is on or if your question got buried under new posts. But you will always get great answers. There are also "stickies" on top of every forum with lots of information !!

Everyone here loves their Ball Pythons and concerns are just that...concerns. For the well being of your little one.

Before you know it you will be a Pro and you will be the one giving out great advice !! I've seen people "grow" on this forum, and seen them turn around and provide all the great help that they themselves have received !!

If you come across actual rudeness and negativity anywhere, ignore it and move on. The reptile community is actually quite a nice bunch of people, but there is always the few..

Been there don't that thanked the lord it never stuck on the snake. Those will come loose I guarantee it. Go digital and never look back. Acurite makes great temp and humidity monitoring tools and several come with a remote unit that can be put in the cage and some come with probes to make it look even nicer. Ditch those gauges they will let you down.

But that being said you have a gorgeous baby!

Edit: This is what I use currently and it is very nice and accurate
