Silver Sulfiazine
Hey everyone just a quick question, my snake is currently being treated with Silver Sulfiazine, so she has a good amount on her belly. My question is if its toxic if injested by her. The only reason I'm wondering is because I had to increase temps in her room, so it dried out a bit and I put her in the bath to soak. She drank a good amount of water from the bath and I'm just wondering if it's unsafe because she has the cream on which most likely mixed in with water. Might just be paranoid but wanna make sure lol.

Re: Silver Sulfiazine
She looks good today I don't think it affected her, I would just like some insight for future reference seeing as I will have to keep using this cream until she is completely healed, what is the risk of her consuming some of the Silver Sulfiazine topical cream that washes off in her bath water? Would it be toxic even when diluted with all the water? Any thoughts?

I have no idea but I would just watch her and see how she is? Is her burn doing better?

Re: Silver Sulfiazine
Hopefully the amount dissolved will be no threat but I don't know anything about the toxicity of it if ingested. Since it can be applied to open wounds it shouldn't really be high I would have thought.

It's looking a lot better everyday, I just wanna keep applying this stuff until I'm sure it's healed enough.

Re: Silver Sulfiazine
That's what I'm thinking I know one time wouldn't do much if anything at all, im just wondering if she decides to drink every time I soak her with this stuff on if it will do something. Raising the heat was part of the vets instructions so I added a space heater in the room, but it dries out the air, so that's why I'm soaking her pretty often.

Re: Silver Sulfiazine
First, I just want to say I'm not a veterinarian so I'm not an expert on this topic.
That said, I've been topically treating a snake that has an abscess on her mouth with silver sulfiazine per the recommendation of my vet. The fact that he had no fear of literally putting the stuff on her mouth makes me believe it must be nontoxic (or at least very mild) and therefore I would not worry in your case.

Thank you, I feel much better knowing that.
