Can you tell me what I am looking at here?
I just got my girl out that I got from a show a few weeks ago, to take a few photos. And while I had her out, I noticed this in her tail. Can you tell me what I am looking at? Thanks.

You are looking at your snake's anal spurs. Now I am not sure how scientific this is but I thought longer spurs are more common on males. Are you sure she is a she? If yes then she just has big spurs

I was thinking the same thing SDA, but wanted someone more knowledgeable to chime in first.

There is no way to tell a snake's gender by how long its spurs are. Get the snake either popped or probed.
Spurs are used for mating and in some species fighting.

Those spurs seem weird... like someone tried to pull it out. Very strange!

Re: Can you tell me what I am looking at here?
When I bought her I was told she was a female. That she laid last season. She is almost 2,000 grams right now. I was also told she was a pastel, but I haven't seen too many adults to know if she is or not. I don't have a probing kit, but there is a show this weekend, I am sure I can pick one up then and then just double check the sex.

I highly recommend you have someone experienced probe the snake instead of trying yourself. It's easy to injure them.
Leilani- corn snake (butter tesserra)
Keahi- corn snake (sunglow motley)
Pololena- ball python (banana)
Ichtaka- ball python (mystic potion)
Wonambi- Brazilian rainbow boa (normal)

Those are spurs and have nothing to do with the gender of the snake.
This one looks very dried out, I would not be to surprised if it falls out sooner or later.

Those are the spurs of the snake. They use them in mating and are basically the last visible parts of the legs in snakes. Pythons and boas often have these spurs. Oh and as a bonus fact they also have hips floating in the middle of the tissue near where the spurs are. The spurs aren't connected to the hips and preserved snake skeletons sometimes don't include them.
