Any reputable breeder will have a live arrival guarantee. If you're buying online and this isn't part of TOS, don't even consider it. If you choose to go the show route, find out who the vendors are and do some research on their rep prior to the show. I suggest the classifieds right here on BP.net as a good place to find snakes from reputable breeders. They may not be large, but with little effort you can determine those that have excellent reps on this site. If you chose to go with 'large reputable dealers' such as those suggested in a previous post, be aware you will pay a premium.

You can find non-morphs extremely cheap. Right now, you can find some morphs extremely cheap. At Daytona, I bought two pastel lesser FEMALES for $105.

I second this. If you do go the craigslist route, buy a hatchling from a breeder and make sure it's eaten a few times. You don't want a rehomed pet. More often than not they've been subjected to bad husbandry and have problems. I've gotten several healthy hatchlings off craigslist, but both of my rosys were rehomed pets and they were kept in awful conditions before I got them. Old sheds, dirty water bowls, and months worth of poop were in both their cages. It was pretty clear why they were being sold. They weren't being taken care of.

Re: Cheapest Ball Pythons??
Sorry I forgot to add that I viewed the vendors list and looked up reviews on them. I found what I liked and was looking for and spoke over email with the breeder.

I would also look at your setup / equipment cost first... Worry about paying for that, then saving up for the snake. Odds are you will end up paying far more for the heat mat, thermostat, thermometer/humidity probe, and enclosure. You can find good deals on those sorts of things on CL.
As for BPs, like others said, it would be ok to purchase a baby from a local breeder off CL, but make sure the snake has eaten and shed a few times and looks healthy. I would not purchase a re-homed pet. The last thing you want to deal with as a new owner is a URI, mites, mouth rot, etc.
As far as setup goes, you can use a tub instead of a tank / enclosure (as long as it is of appropriate size) and save some $$ that way. I housed my BPs in tubs until I purchased a rack.
I'd expect you would be able to get normals and single gene animals (cinnamon, mojave, pastel, spider, etc.) for your price range.
I noticed you are in GA, as am I, there is a show, repticon, that happens at the Gwinette county fair grounds. The next one is in October. I will link the show info page here. There is a charge to get in, but they usually have a lot of BPs there. I would highly recommend that you do research here and on the fauna BOI on the vendors listed before going though. Some people sell wild-caught or sickly animals. I have purchased all 3 of my BPs there in the past.

0.1 BRB 1.2 KSBs
1.0 Carpet 0.5 BPs

1.0 Leachie 0.0.1 BTS

Re: Cheapest Ball Pythons??
I would second repticon. There were some very nice snakes from reputable breeders at the last one for very fair prices. There's also a couple of local breeders that I have found since that could probably help you out. One of them has some ready to go in the next week or so. I'm sure they will be at repticon also. This close to the date, I would wait for the show and you will have a good selection to choose from.
