New Tank for Ra
Hey just wanted to get every ones opinion on the brand of tank I'm looking to get and see what kind of reviews I can get from the community.....Right now Ra is sitting in a 10gal tank and needs to be moved tomm....he is needing a lot more room and I'm looking at getting a 36x18x12 Exo Tera....I've heard good and bed, but those are generic review on the sites....they run 150-160$ from what I have found...I don't have any issues with spending the money, But I really like the front access doors...lol Any insight?

For that kind of cash, you are better off ordering an Animal Plastics T8 which is a 4x2x12 PVC cage. They are a quick ship item but will still take around a month to get. Will be much better at holding humidity and temps than any glass tank.

FYI: "quick ship" is never quick to the purchaser, as you'll learn working in retail. I hate that they call it that. So many angry customers, eesh. The "quick" end is generally on the vendor's side, while it is actually one of the slowest methods for the purchaser. IIRC the vendor essentially en-masse ships its things to FedEx or another shipper then lets FedEx figure out the rest.
That said, agreeing. Making one yourself if capable or going with any sort of non-glass factory made model is best if you're willing to drop like $200+ flat out on a new enclosure for your animal.

Well quick ship relative to how long any of their other cages take. Took 13 weeks to ship my 3 T10s and 12 weeks to ship my 3 T25s. My 3 T8s shipped out in 4 weeks.
And while they do use FedEx for anything 4' and under, it only took about 4 days to get here once FedEx picked it up from them. About the same amount of time it took Estes shipping, which they use for anything over 4', to get to me.
Part of the problem is we as a group have grown to be an 'instant gratification' society. We want everything yesterday. The only anger i have heard about AP is the wait time. Their quality is awesome and Ali is awesome to deal with. Heck I've had Ali replace LEDs for me after 6+ months for no cost and send them out the next day. Making cages for I'm guessing hundreds of people who order them is not going to be a quick process.
So while i kind of agree that labeling their T8s as 'quick ship' isnt really the definition of "quick". It is fairly quick especially if you order 3 and they ship them out in 2 weeks.
But anyways, bottomline is AP cages are awesome and i bet you couldnt find a single person who didnt like them. Now for the wait time, yeah that sucks lol but all good things come to those who wait

I'd try to get a PVC cage with RHP for heat. I recently got a Boaphile to replace my exo-terra, here's why:
- if you're using heat lamps, it's very difficult to maintain humidity even with 3/4 of the top covered, spraying, coco...
- the door locking mechanism does not inspire a lot of confidence, it's cheap & I don't trust it, esp. with my kids
- the plastic framed screen tops, especially on the 36", sag quite a bit
- you might be covering the sides anyway...
- my ET is 12" height, no need to go taller for a BP but it can be more difficult to access, remove items, clean

Here's my thing, I have three glass enclosures and with covering all three of them with a damp towel I've never had any issues maintaining humidity now...at first I was till I learned that trick....all three tanks maintain the cool and hot side with temps and humidity....and I'm not looking to spend almost 300 on a tank atm. Truly appreciate all the feedback. I may just for with a regular 40gal tank instead of the ET but who knows my mind changes hour to hour lol. I also have no worries about kids....its just me and my husband and 12 other critters ranging from dogs, cats, rodents to the reptiles XP.

Re: New Tank for Ra

Seems that love the space so far and temps
And humidity are on point. He's never had this amount of space, I hope this helps with how aggressive he can be....actually was able to draw blood tonight twice....
