Don't worry about it. Long as your snake is ok. A lot of people have to act like they're your parents or co-owners of your snake.

My impression of the situation was that he struck at a pot of boiling water and submerged his head for a second, I'm glad that is not the case and that he only had some splash on him. Hope your hand and your snake are alright, if blisters were to form I would think they would have started to appear by now but he should still be monitored.

So the water wasn't boiling. You're saying your mother boils water for ticks(???) and so it was turned off, sitting not on the stove, for long enough that you figured it wasn't hot, and spilled some when he struck at it and some splashed on him.

If he has no blisters, I would only worry that he's still sneezing. Generally sneezing is not a good sign when they repeat it.

Does your hand have large blisters?

Snakes and other reptiles can carry salmonella. They really shouldn't even be in the kitchen.

Get a scale dedicated to weighing snakes, you don't want to use the same one for your snakes that you use in the kitchen for weighing out food.

It was a jar that was filled with boiling water. My mum usually keeps it for ticks she finds on the dogs. I was carrying him around and was going to weigh him with the scales in the kitchen and I didn't realise the jar of water close to the scales was still boiling, I thought it was cool because everyone had been out for a bit. As I went to move it out of the way (and realising it was still very hot) my bp struck at it before I could even react. They're lightning fast, that's for sure. I guess I'll have to keep an even closer eye on him.

I live in deer country here in Southwestern Virginia -- ticks are everywhere. Tell your mom that a jar of tap water with a healthy dose of the soap that you use to hand-wash dishes -- like Cascade, Palmolive, or Dawn (wait for the foam or bubbles to dissipate) -- will sink those ticks to the bottom like stones. No need to use boiling water at all. You can use the contents of the jar for days at a time on those nasty ticks. Good luck!
