    Weird Behaviour Discovery

    Hi,

this is less of a question and more of a discovery I made with my ball python. I have had him for a month and I noticed something interesting when feeding. He comes out of his hide quickly and takes the frozen mouse immediatly but he always bites it's foot or a least something at the back end of the mouse. After he *killed* it he then lets go, searches for the head and devours it.
I know this is all normal but recently he started to take the mouse into his hide before he lets go to search for it's head.

Has anyone else ever experienced this because I can't find anything about this behaviour on the internet or in books [though I doubt it's something bad because he eats quite a lot (every 5 days until he weighs 500g)]?

I don't know what to tell you... take him to an animal behaviorist and find out what the hell is wrong with your snake!!
Just joking. I think they all have their unique personalities. He's probably shy because your watching.

Ain't nothing strange to me. Mine half the time will eat it butt first. It will just start at whatever end it's closest to.

Yeah, like others said they are all unique. My adult of 23 years has almost always eaten head first. Sometimes in his hide, but just as likely to eat wherever he happens to be. One thing I notice the older he gets, it seems to take him a long while to find the head sometimes.

My 6 month old however...she's a mess LoL eats like a champ, but when she strikes her little teeth get stuck in the mouse. Takes her a long time to spit it out before she starts to feed. Then she tries eating sideways lol, rear leg first, shoulder first...it's frustrating to watch LoL but she always gets it down one way or another.

As long as they eat, I'm happy.

They all seem to have their own weirdness going on. LoL just watch and enjoy
