Something like Scratches on BP- help
Hi. Please tell me wt you think..
I just noticed this on a snake from workplace, looks like scratch marks..
He had a live rat on saturday, I was present and snake bit a rat on the head right away and curled so he couldnt bit her.. Snake killed and ate a rat really fast. I was watching to keep him safe and Haven't seen a rat trying to escape.. Could this be done from a rats nails or teeth?
He is in shed.. 2years old. Will those marks come off with skin?
Should I put something over it? A medical cream of some sort??
He is in a tub, plastic hides and bowl, soft snake bedding substrat like always.. I really dont know what else could it be.
Thats why im against feeding live... If this is from a rat..

Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.

Hard to tell without seeing it. Can you post a few pictures?

White snakes show everything. You can wipe him with a damp cloth. I would not be too concerned at this point. Just keep an eye on it. If it does not get any worse it will go away on the next shed if not sooner.
Honest, I only need one more ...

Yeah, he looks scratched up to me also. The rat could have fought him a little when it was being constricted. Keep an eye on it he should be fine. If its starts too look worse then something else will have to be done, but once again, I would not worry too much.

Thank u!!
so no cream should be put on it?
Hope that it doesn't leave a permanent mark... My boss is not going to be happy... This one is his favourite.. I have 20 snakes there, this never happen and I dont understand.. I kept my eyes on the rat whole time.. He couldn't move a muscle... Is there a possibility for it to be something else?

Yes it could be something else. All I can do is give you my best guess based on the information I have. Things like this are always a risk when you feed live. Feeding freshly killed or frozen/thawed prevents this. It happens to the darker snakes too but we just don't see it. Being this close to a shed I would not put any kind of cream on the animal. Let it shed out and see how it looks.
