    Still breathing, checking in

I know I haven't been active here. Let me just say it's life and leave it at that.

I got one clutch of BP eggs this season, extremely late(mom was bred months before laying, literally). But since it was from my cinnamon girl, from my late cinnamon female, I was pleased to have the one clutch.

However, day 55 came and went and nothing. Originally 6 eggs, 2 went bad immediately, but four still showed veins. I waited for an additional 2 weeks, until the veins were showing definite shrinkage and no movement had been seen in days. Today I cut the eggs open and found all 4 babies dead in the egg.

Mom was a cinnamon(maybe more?) and was bred to several males(including citrus fly, mystic crystal, calico YB and a mojave although I only saw a lock with the last two). I have a picture but photobucket is apparently having a technical seizure and won't let me get a link to post it.

Three of the babies are solid silver with clear white bellies. Two of these had evident kinking. One baby was a cinnamon(maybe more?). All were almost ready to hatch when they failed. I'm not certain what the genes could be to cause it however.

Also, the mother to this mom once had a clutch with these silver babies once years ago, all of which died in the egg too. That clutch death was attributed to a incubator issue of overheating, since I lost about 3 clutches that year from it.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

In my life other than reptiles, I'm alive and working. I still do a great deal of pottery. My health isn't great and I'm having to do a lot of home repair and maintenance lately. It's very tiring and between the fibro and depression, it's rough some days. I also lost my most promising female morph, no serious idea why. That doesn't help any. Some days it's as if this hobby is determined to break me.

Moggie the monitor lizard is still happy and outside although she's now nearly blind. The vet said he believes it's detached retina, but it's hard to tell and none of the possibilities are treatable, nor does it seem to bother her. I only noticed when I waved a rat and she didn't react until she obviously smelled it. She still gets along just fine, loving her outside sunlight and I swear has less stress since she no longer can see birds or squirrels.

I'm also down to 3 elderly dogs now. I lost one of the youngest to a spinal issue. The oldest(poodle mix) is well into her twenties and still toddling around the house happily. My old yorkie Guido gave me a minor scare with blood in his urine one day but four days later, a follow up check of his urine showed ZERO issues. No blood, no numbers off at all. Bizarre but I'll take the good news where I can get it. He's 17 now.

That's about it. If you have ideas about the clutch, I'd like to hear them. If you missed me, feel free to say so. LOL. I wish I had more time and more energy.

Good to see you around again. Sorry about the clutch and also to hear about the depression. I myself just recently went through a tough bout of depression and had to have ECT treatments to bring myself out of it. I am glad that you are back as I have always enjoyed your knowledge and posts. You have been on here for a long time. Keep your chin up and things will get better.

Welcome back Wolfy. I had to take a hiatus myself. I had to deal with some of those health and life issues as well.

Thank you for that video, I had to subscribe to his channel. Seems like a good resource to watch.

Thank you to everyone for the greetings. I missed it here.

Vypyrs, I'm glad you've gotten on top of your struggles too. It's hard to juggle it all some days.

I still use your quote at work when some of the young people complain about things being too hard. I just needed to take it to heart, myself.
