    First live feed

So, my hubby and I are newish snake owners. We usually give our girl f/t, but last night my hubby decided to do a live feed, because he thought it would be "fun." Anyway, danger noodle killed of the rat right away, but seemed like she didn't know how to eat it? She started on its middle, worked her way around to the butt, and FINALLY the head after about 10 minutes. We were just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why? Thankfully my hubby didn't find it as "cool" as it was supposed to be and agreed to stick to f/t, but just wondering what the issue was? Thanks in advance!

The why is most likely they are trying to figure out the best way to eat it. I have some that will eat immediately after constriction and some that will sniff it for 15 minutes with maybe a few bad attempts in between. It is not unusual.

On another note, in my opinion feeding live for entertainment value is the wrong reason to feed live.

agreed here, I have one that will literally take a rat from my hand as gentle as possible, and another that you swear the rat will explode from the sheer G force of the grab and wrap.

agreed on the live thing too, I can understand a fascination with it once or twice, as I was like that for my first live feeding, but to do it consistently would be in my mind irresponsible. Not saying you are OP, just agreeing with Jordan's post.

I agree with your opinion. I'm not a fan of live feeding. Not worth the risk, in my opinion. I'm glad my hubby was disappointed so I don't have to argue with him to go back to f/t.

I understand, and totally agree. Not a big fan of feeding live. I'm glad my hubby was disappointed in the experience so we're not arguing over going back to f/t.

I'm glad the hubby was disappointed. I'm not a fan of feeding live unless its absolutely necessary, especially after they are started on f/t and accepting regularly

Me too! She is a great eater, so I see no reason to switch it up.
