How long is too long to leave Kitty in less than ideal temps, I mean in the 73-77 range? There is still a heat pad on one end, but I am having serious bulb problems. How long is too long

I cant tell ya how long is too long, but I can tell ya, no matter what you are taking risks that you really dont wanna take, those risks could lend to RI. I would say- get another bulb or a ceramic heat emiiter ASAP.

Might not hurt for one night, but Jeanne is correct ... the risk of RI, esp to babies, is always there.

not a baby, but I work full time and don't get out f class at night until the store closes, tis very grr, especially since I would not have this problem if the product they sold me had not been faulty. Can I use a human bulb? If so what type?

You dont have to use the recommended reptile ones, however you will need to turn the light off at night. BP's are pretty good with a 12 hour on and 12 hour off light cycle, but you can put a regular bulb in there during the day to keep the temps up until you can get your heating problem fixed.

Question: What are your temps like in the room where you keep your snake? Sometimes the key to getting temps in the cage up is getting the temps in the room up a bit. Some food for thought

I actually have never had a problem with temps, not for a year, the thing is my bulb went out finally, and the one I had one reserve burned out as soon as I turned it on. So that wasn't cool. I have a regular bulb shining overhead, but it is not strong enough to emit much heat. I am going to try to get out of class early and make it by le petco and make them give me another bulb, for free. Whish me luck.
