My BP has dry scales

Ok so, I've been a python owner since September. I know all the basics and the how-to to keep a snake happy. I currently own two snakes. While one, my youngest, has mites, my oldest does not. The oldest, whom I've named Basilisk, is constantly soaking. He's not in shed. I've checked and he's healthy. He's being picky about eating, but I figured maybe it was because of the winter months. He got out of his water and as soon as he dried, his entire body was dry. Like ashy skin on a human. His head to his tail. It's getting worse each day and with working a full time job, it's hard to get him to a specialist. Please help ;-;

If he's constantly soaking it sounds like the humidity is too low, what's the humidity in there? Where do you keep him? in a tank or a snake rack? I keep my BP at 60 humidity but in tough shed it won't hurt to bump up to 65-70. Also what temps do you have in there? Do you keep gauges in there so you can see the temps and humidity levels? You are going to want to shoot for that 60-70 humidity, and a gradient of temps, I make the cool side 70ish, the middle 80ish, and the hot side about 90. Can you show a picture of your enclosure or at least explain the set up? It's either retained shed, dry skin, or something else but it's hard to tell with no pictures... I just hope it isn't scale rot or anything. Oh and what substrate do you have and how often do you clean it out?
