Is vacuuming before feeding causing problems???
Between the dog, who's a Lassie-type collie, blowing his coat, and my butt-length hair adding to it, I wanted a better vacuum. I bought a Hoover wind tunnel today and was vacuuming the house, enjoying my new toy, just before feeding the bp's. Callista, who normally eats pretty well, wrapped her rat and then released it. Bubbles ignored hers, and she usually eats except when in shed, but she shed last night. Could the vibrations from the vacuum have upset them enough to cause this?

I doubt it. I vacuum around the cages all the time as I drop a lot of aspen around them and also walk by the cages all the time and stuff as they are by my TV and they all care less. Its funny, my retic is actually very quiet until movement or something goes on close to his cage. Then he is at the front of the cage looking outside wondering if it means dinner is coming. My boas are the same way. My Bp usually just pokes her head out of the hide to see whats going on and the dumerils and carpet aren't phased at all.

Re: Is vacuuming before feeding causing problems???
It is possible. I try to not disturb my collection on feeding day until it's time to go. It might not make a bit of difference for all, but I'm sure there's a few that benefit from this practice.

OK, thanks, everybody. Next week I'll avoid using it until after the bp's are fed.
