Baytril use help?

I have a ball python with respiratory infection. I don't know her weight but I am getting a scale tomorrow and will be able to weight her then.
My question: The link below, is that the correct baytril I will have to purchase? If not, where do I get the correct baytril?

I went to my local reptile vet and he gave me this outrageous bill with a large amount of medication. It was a ton of different meds that led up to be over $800. I denied the meds because I thought it was ridiculous. I looked up what others think and apparently baytril is a popular antibacterial medicine used on snakes with RI.

Not all antibiotics are equal and they are not prescribed based on popularity but based on the type of RI you are dealing with can only be determine by a culture.

No one here is a vet, no one has examined your animal and recommending a specific anti-biotic or it's dosage could be considered a dangerous advice so do yourself a favor find a good vet get a culture and the proper antibiotic.

Everything that Deborah put forth! Most vets will work with a customer/ patient on costs. Did you inquire about a payment option or plan that would be affordable? Also there are pet insurance programs that help defray vet and medication costs. My vet works with both. If the vet prescribed multiple medications then only getting part of the prescription is a recipe for resistant strains of bacteria. Good luck with everything.

Thank you both for your help. Unfortunately, I am not able to afford it even with a payment plan. I do not have a steady job nor do I have the funds. I have been thinking about rehoming her to someone who can afford the cost of her care. Sadly, it seems like that is what I am going to have to do ;-; Thank you for the imputs.

I'd find a new exotics vet and have a culture done first. I wouldn't recommend baytril at all in a reptile unless the vet knew EXACTLY what he was doing and Baytril can cause some NASTY burns. Fortaz and Amikacin (sp?) are much better options for treating RI but it cannot be determined without a culture first on which antibiotic to use.

I'd be real interested in knowing where the OP is and what list of meds added up to $800.Last snake I had in for surgery, her post-op antibiotics for 30 days cost $30 for Baytril and $70 for Fortaz. The vet is in Fairfax County, VA which has some of the priciest commercial real-estate in the country, so it's not like they don't upcharge the heck out of everything.

The vet is in Fairfax County, VA which has some of the priciest commercial real-estate in the country, so it's not like they don't upcharge the heck out of everything.

At the time, he only did the exam so I just payed for the examination and waste fee which came out to be $51.

That Amakacin (Baytril) entry looks insanely high, I wonder if it should have been $27.50 for the ten doses, which is in line with the $30 I paid for my snake.

The vitamin A/B/C/Nekton supplements aren't worth it, snakes get everything they need from whole prey.

The culture & sensitivity price is a steal, normally I pay a few hundred for that.

Why were both the cost for the fecal exam and wormer listed? Normally you have a fecal exam done, then you get wormer based on the results after a few days if anything shows up.

That's what he recommended. This was my first time bringing a snake to a vet.

Now because he prescribed medications does not mean you have to get them all of them, I too find some unnecessary, however you do need the anti-biotics but that does not mean you have to get them from your vet all you have to do is tell them to write the prescription and order from a online Pet Pharmacy (they will verify with your vet that you are buying what is prescribed)
