I am about to try and switch my 300 g pied male from adult mice to the appropriate sized f/t rats. Is there any tips or tricks? Thanks

Use old bedding or F/T mice to scent the rat if you see that your snake does not go for the rat immediately.

Scenting or braining the feeder might help. I'll usually offer a really small mouse first then try offering a rat fuzzy immediately after. Sometimes they're more likely to take it if they're still in feeding mode.
Scenting in the freezer for a few weeks and then piggybacking the rat after mouse worked for my two, two year old at the time mouser Carpets.

You can try just to offer at first. Unless he has declined that before. Then scenting definitely can help.
