Took a LOT of sleuthing - but it's finally been revealed who the actual musicians behind the masks are:

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

They have actually been un-masked for a really long time now.
Not to mention, the lead singer is in another band w/o masks.

I thought their newest album sounded a lot like "Sports"

I saw Slipknot in Buffalo last month, and they really put on a fun show. They're really energetic and loud! But I really went to see Slayer, who opened up for them. Slipknot is a TAD immature for me, kinda geared toward teens I think, but it was a fun show.

Yeah definitely enjoyed Slayer both shows this summer - with that number of members I expected a whole lot more from Slipknot - two bands' worth even. DevilDriver was also damn good - though much better doing a full set opening for Opeth than the abbreviated stuff you could get via OzzFest. I was kind of blown away by the massive crowd reaction to Lacuna Coil (in a good way).
