I fed my newbies last night. I have 3 total, 2 of them have taken F/T and the other has been very picky. I ended up giving her a small mouse to boost her appetite 10 days after I got her. Tonight I had a live mouse in the room a few hours before feeding. Offered her the F/T, got her interest but she wouldn't strike. Put the pup back on the heating pad and tried offer to my other boy with the same response.
Ended up putting it back on the heating pad and waited a couple minutes. Tried offering her the pup again, but when she seemed really interested i immediately switched out for the other pup and she struck a couple seconds later. I think the issue is they take their time investigating and by the time they are ready the pup is too cold.

You may just have to start breeding rats, that or try and trade for something else.
Just a suggestion, look at reptile groups on facebook for your state, then put a post that you're looking for live rats. I'm sure you'll be able to find somebody nearby who breeds rats that may be closer. I did this with wanting to sell frozen feeders, and to help out local people and it's been working out great.
Yeah, I'm in those groups and found the person most local to me is still 40 minutes drive.. Not the easiest.
I think I'll try an f/t mouse hopper first too, but I doubt it would help.

Yeah , that would explain why they strike DF mice after they are heated with a hairdryer .... the first few times gets the interest which builds and builds until they take it t soon after .
