How often to feed a neonate Dumeril's boa?
Ok so I just picked up a little 2 month old 18" female Dumeril's. I was told to feed her once a week. Sound right? I'm going to guess its kind of like a BI in the sense of once a week until a year old. Then once every two weeks until 3 years olds. And then finally, once every three to four weeks from 3 years on? Right now, she is feeding on hopper mice and is such a curious little worm lol. She comes out when the lights go out and cruises around the cage for a couple hours. Then settles in her warm hide with her head and neck poking out lol.
Also from what I've read, they like it cooler so I got her UTH set to 85F and ambient temp is anywhere from 79-81F. She spends the day inside her warm hide all curled up and at night cruises around. Wish I had a dang camera lol. She is so cute. Golden brown top with silver sides and such a sweet little snake. On a side note though, Allison the angry jungle carpet worm is calming down. She only head butted my hand tonight when I took her out and I now can pet her without her freaking out lol. Work in progress is working

Every 7-10 days as babies-slower digestion with the lower temps. Mine is about 1.5 years and being fed every two weeks. Mine spends most of his time hidden in the substrate, very cool species.

Thanks. Yeah my little girl is now sitting under her cool hide with just her little head poking out of the aspen lol. All you see is her nose.

My 3 year old gets hungry and starts to surf for food only around 10 days after her meal, so I feed every 2 weeks. She's also slender and isn't overweight at all, and of course still growing.
Every 3~4 weeks may work to maintain weight when they're full grown.

Congrats on your Dum Sauzo! A Dum has been on list for quite some time. But I'm still holding off until I can get everybody into their forever homes first.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Thanks Reinz. Yeah I kind of went crazy recently lol. I finally got my 3 AP T10s in and got the old group into those and set up so I had 3 cages lay around. I "had" to fill them so I picked up my little jungle carpet from Nick Mutton and then the little dumerils from my local reptile shop that I buy all my rats and stuff from. She actually got a couple coastal carpets too which were tempting. One is an angel and the other one is an angry danger noodle lol. They are so small. I might see once my dumerils gets big enough to be put into my Constrictors NW cage. I would do it now but I think shes too small and will squeeze through the vents in the back of the cage lol. I'm also just debating ordering another T10 for the dumerils when I order the T12 for the jungle carpet. And yeah the dumerils is gorgeous. Wish I had a camera lol. She is golden brown on top with silverish sides and such an inquisitive little worm at night.
