Ambient temperature ?

Have some unseasonally cold weather last couple days . Tubs cool sides range from 77-76
I increase the hot side to 92-94 to hopefully bring up cool side which seems to have done by 2 degrees. I plan to buy thermal curtains to keep in heat during winter..

Question is would getting a space heater as opposed to heating entire house I use propane @ 1.28 cu ft.is my rate according to my bill.

Obviously keeping one room at 75 versus a house would be cheaper.

I keep my house at 68 during the winter and the snake room at 75, I could not imagine keeping the entire house at 75.

Now there are other options as well that could be cheaper such as installing a heat pad on the cool side and keep your t-stat to where you can achieve 75 and above.

It really depends on the room size how hard a heater would have to work based on the original room temp, how many animals are in the room etc.

It's a 173 square feet it would have eventually have by spring 4 BP in in it. Using a c serpents rack 3 tub 28qt. I live in a Town house so bedrooms up stairs

Honestly because is a descent size room but there is not many animal kept, it would be more cost efficient to use an additional heat mat on the cold side.

Having a heated snake room is great when you have a dedicated room with a good number of animals.

I prefer ultratherm myself they are more sturdy especially for something you plan on moving and removing. But I am sure Zoo med will do the trick too.

Yep I have some of those, had them 10 years they are still in perfect shape, work great when I have animals in QT

I would only use the additional heat source when necessary and remove it when no longer necessary as it's kind of getting in the way anyway.
