diff snakes?

You ( and everyone else above ) make some great points ....

My issue with Hognoses - even though they are the CUTEST of all snakes ..... are rear-fanged and as such mildly venomous .... in fact for someone like myself ( whose hypersensitive to most things ) they are a complete NO-NO .

Oh, I suppose I didn't even consider the venom thing - I've rarely, if ever heard of anyone being taken badly ill from a hoggy bite, and as someone with a false water cobra, and it's perfectly possible to be allergic to any snake's saliva.

That having been said, I have a false water cobra and handle him freely etc., so I might be less cautious than most. Each to their own; if people are put off by rear-fanged venomous species, that's fine!

I'll throw my vote in for a Childrens Python, or really any of the Antaresia species... They stay small, so even when they get moody they aren't too much to handle. Mine is out all the time, climbing and exploring. He eats a rat hopper once a week, and is pretty bullet proof.

I have a friend who ended up in hospital in a right mess after being munched on by his normally placed Hoggie .... he just had a real bad reaction presumably but his hand / fore- arm swelled up massively and there was a whole lot of black bruising for ages

That's the problem with allergies and allergic reactions. You can go from little to no effect from something to full anaphylaxis in as little as 1 exposure. Most commonly it is a progressive thing but not always.
The best course is to carry an epi pen if you plan on working with anything that can envenomate you.
