Animal plastics rack on herpstat: temp differences between tubs. Why??

Hey everyone. This problem has been bugging me for a while and I've yet to find a solution to it.

I have my snakes in an animal plastics, 7 shelf, CB70 rack. It's set up with a herpstat 1 set to 88 degrees. The herpstat probe is on the middle shelf but it was the same way when the probe was on the top shelf.

I only have 4 BPs right now so not every tub is being monitored.

All temps are taken using both an acurite probe and a infrared thermometer.

The 1st tub on top has a hot spot of 94 degrees.

The 3rd tub has a hot spot of 100 degrees (why?!?!?! Was not this hot this morning)

5th tub has a hot spot of 89.

6th tub has a hot spot of 95.

No matter what I do they all have different temps and it makes no sense to me. Could it be a problem with the flexwatt in the rack? Idk what else it could be!

Check the temp of the flexwatt instead of the tub.
If it's drastically different then there could be a problem with it.
Temps do tend to change from tub to tub in a rack but more likely gets slightly hotter the further up the rack you go so for it to drop on the second tub up I'm thinking it's the flexwatt.

I just removed all the tubs and checked the tape with an infrared monitor. Just dragging the laser along the tape I get wildly different temps, but at the hottest point on each section it goes:
    94
    95.3
    97
    94

(Last 3 tubs can't be removed because my bed is in the way)

So... that seems pretty normal to me.

That does seem normal. But if 1 tub is getting 95f over the hole tub that's on the flexwatt and the tub underneath is only getting 95f at 1 or 2 points and the rest is 80 then that could be the temp difference.
Reading that back doesn't make as much sense as it did when I was writing it lol. Do you get what I mean ?
Maybe leave the tub on there for a bit and then take the temp of different parts of the underneath of the tub to see if the tubs are getting consistent heat

Is the bottom of the tubs completely flat or is there a slight raised section in the middle?
If your heat tape routed down into the rack so it's sitting below the rest of the top of the shelf? Is there a gap at all in-between the tape and the tubs?

Yeah, they're sterilite tubs so there's a little bit of a raise in the center. Do you think that would effect the even distribution of heat?

I think I'm just gonna replace the flexwatt regardless because I don't even know how old the thing is

That might be the safest bet, does all the wiring and plugs look the same? Are they wired in parallel or all plugged into an extension cord?
