Rescued a RT Boa

So about two weeks ago, I picked up a 2 year old female red tail from a guy who couldn't take care of her anymore. She's in a good health and he had been feeding her once or twice a month BUT stopped handling her. He stated that he hasn't handled her at all for almost a year now. I've given her these two weeks to settle in. The last few days I've been putting my hand in the tank for her to get used to it and I'd touch her tail or body here and there. Every time I did touch her though, she would freak out and go right in to her hide.

Should I just go right in and pick her up? Do you guys think that she'll be aggressive since no one has held her for almost a year?

If the animal is running, it is afraid. A bite would be a defensive reaction not an aggressive one. I would pick it up and attempt to hold on to it until it relaxes. I would be prepared to handle the bite if it comes though. If you freak out it will just make calming the animal all that more difficult.
