Without this forum I would have had no idea. Almost no other resource (and I researched my head off) mentioned them. And of course the pet store didn't sell it; I had to buy one online.

I often wonder myself why the stores do not carry them. I think I'll ask next week when I go get rats. Maybe there is some kind of liability issue I am missing. I understand that when you are selling animals how a tank set-up is more appealing but even that could be sold as a kit correctly. I could even see how tubs could sell. You put everything together for the customer so all they have to do is plug it in. I did ask one time why they did not sell heat tape and they looked at me like I was an alien from outer space and this was in a reptile specialty store.

EXACTLY, as I said in a different thread. Someone should make a CORRECT kit with everything attached. Just plug it in.

This is wishful thinking, but there are a bunch of us. Basic beginner tank. Locking lid. Proper substrate and heating. Thermostat. Correct hides, thermometer, hygrometer. Maybe a spray bottle or something for misting. A copy of the care sheet, tank setup guide and UTH setup guide.

My local store carries Herpstats - but they also breed their own feeders as well as high-end boas and BP's.
